At any level, strategic planning
and relevant decision-making is best supported by the use of an
evidence-based framework. By being fully aware of existing research
and knowledge, program managers, technical advisors, and researchers
can be guided to address the most important needs of the communities
they serve.
To optimally benefit the DRH, a participatory and
collaborative approach that harnesses the resources and talents
of the Family Health International, MEASURE Evaluation, World
Health Organisation (WHO), the Department for International Development
(DfID), and the Population Council, who have already made significant
contributions, has been used to build capacity for monitoring
and evaluation within the DRH. The DRH is being strengthened to
collect and utilize data for decision making at national, provincial
and district levels through creation of a National RH M &
E framework; Reviewing key national indicators for the DRH; Revising
current data collection tools for above indicators at national
and provincial level and training in utilization of data for decision-making.
MEASURE EVALUATION and FAMILY HEALTH INTERNATIONAL
have been providing technical assistance to the DRH on these activities.
